Professional Liability Insurance Coverage Information for Nurse Professionals

Professional Liability Insurance: If a situation arises when a patient or client alleges that you were negligent in providing or failing to provide professional services, subject to the terms of the policy, professional liability insurance offered through NSO affords coverage for such claims. 

Our occurrence-based coverage provides you coverage for claims made against you or any of your staff members at any point in time, provided the claim arises out of a covered incident and the policy was in force at the time of the incident. Subject to the applicable limits, the Plan includes: 

  • Professional Liability Coverage – up to $1 million each claim, up to $3 million annual aggregate 

  • Personal Injury Coverage – shares limit with professional liability

  • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Coverage – up to $25,000 annual aggregate 

  • Enterprise Privacy Protection – up to $25,000 annual aggregate* 

  • License Protection – up to $25,000 annual aggregate 

  • Defendant Expense Benefit – up to $1,000 per day, up to $25,000 annual aggregate 

  • Deposition Representation – up to $10,000 annual aggregate 

  • Assault Coverage – up to $25,000 annual aggregate (Not available in Texas)

  • Damage to Property of Others – up to $10,000 annual aggregate 

  • Medical Payments – up to $25,000 per person, up to $100,000 annual aggregate 

  • First Aid Coverage – up to $10,000 annual aggregate 

  • Defense Attorney provided by the Insurer for covered claims 

 

General Liability Insurance: For an additional premium, you may be eligible to purchase up to $1 million aggregate general liability insurance. This coverage is designed to insure your firm for claims from injuries or damages caused by a non-medical incident. This coverage can also insure you for claims for bodily injury and property damage, fire and water legal liability, products liability, and host liquor liability. Depending on the size of your staff, you may also be able to receive a discount off your premium.



*Enterprise Privacy Protection coverage not available in all states. Higher limits are available. Minnesota requires a minimum $100,000 sublimit.
