About NSO: Brief History

Nurses Service Organization (NSO*) is the nation's largest provider of nurses professional liability insurance coverage, with over 650,000 nursing professionals insured in the program today.

NSO makes insurance products available to the nursing community solely through direct response advertising. Research enables NSO to continue to provide quality products and services at competitive rates, as well as to determine other products that this audience requires.

This research led NSO to offer professional liability insurance to nurses. NSO markets this product through advertising in nursing journals, targeted direct mail solicitations, and aggressive lead generating programs. Target direct mail techniques coupled with continuous dialogue with both insureds and non-insureds have made this program the largest of its type in the nation.

The Nurses Advisory Board provides direct feedback to NSO on products being developed, creative approaches for advertising efforts, and confirms key issues NSO has identified for the nursing community.

One of the results of NSO's listening and responding to the unique needs of their audience is NSO's newsletter, the NSO Risk Advisor. All of our insureds receive a complimentary subscription. This newsletter provides risk management tips specifically for nurses, nurse practitioners and nursing students. The newsletters also offer a vehicle for our customers to provide feedback to NSO on our products and services.
