What is in a NSO Malpractice Insurance Policy?

With your own individual coverage, you’ll have your own defense attorney designated by the insurer to represent you in court, when necessary. Legal fees will be paid for covered claims, in addition to your liability limits—WIN OR LOSE.
During the policy period, insurance is in force 24/7. Coverage is available for incidents that occur on the job and after hours as well. Your coverage remains in force even if you change jobs or during a period of unemployment.

A professional liability insurance policy through NSO is portable, so you can take it with you wherever you go. Whether you have a second job, volunteer, move, or change jobs, your policy is there to help insure you.

Provides coverage up to the applicable limit for unintentional damage you cause to someone else's property while at your personal residence or your workplace.
Reimburses you for expenses you incur while rendering first aid to another person. For example, this could include supplies from your personal first aid kit that you used to help a victim of an automobile accident.
A patient or client is injured at the facility where you work. You’re not named in the lawsuit, but you receive a subpoena for testimony during the policy period. Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions. We have answers. (It's why we're here.)

Why do I need an individual professional liability policy? Won't my employer's insurance policy cover me?

Professional liability insurance help safeguards you against allegations of malpractice. While your employer may provide coverage for you, it may not be enough to cover you in all cases. Your employer's policy is designed to preserve the employers' needs and interests first.

Does having my own policy make me a more likely target for a lawsuit?

No. When a patient is injured, most attorneys will name everyone who was involved in the patients' care in the lawsuit, whether you have your own coverage or not. And no one knows, not even the patient's lawyer, that you have your own professional liability insurance.

I work for several different employers. Will that affect my coverage or rate?

Not necessarily. The rate you pay is based on whether you are an individual or a business. If you're an individual, it also depends on whether you receive a W2 or 1099 tax form. Talk with a NSO representative for more information.

There are plenty more where those came from.
